The Sound of Seattle

More than just coffee and grunge music, Seattle is the largest city in Washington State and has a huge amount to offer. Although this small city can be explored in a few days, it is worth staying longer to soak up the atmosphere and visit the stunning surrounding landscape.

Located between the Pacific Ocean and Lake Washington, Seattle is best visited in the summer because of the wide variety of water-based activities on offer. Being surrounded by water means Seattleites eat a lot of fish. Pike Place fish market is where you can see traders and fishermen haggle over price as they have done for generations. This is also a great lunch spot for seafood lovers as there is a great selection of family-run fish restaurants.

A great way to see as much of this small city as possible is to use the monorail. This comprehensive system runs through malls, over streets and into museums.

Even if you like to walk, the monorail is worth riding just to catch glimpses of the city from above.

The impressive Space Needle tower, made famous as the logo for the TV show ‘Frasier’ is the perfect vantage point for viewing the city and the Olympic Mountains. The rest of Seattle’s skyline is also pretty high and impressive, comprising of the Smith Tower, Columbia Center and Washington Mutual Tower.

Seattle over spills with culture thanks to its young, intelligent and progressive population. It is here that Starbucks started modern coffee culture as we know it back in the early 1980s so you can pretty much guarantee you’ll drink at least one cup whilst you’re here.

Talking of culture, Seattle has world renowned ballet and opera at Benaroya Hall and McCaw Hall.

Its Youth Symphony Orchestra is equally outstanding and it’s the largest of its kind in the US.

Seattle’s music heritage is rich and diverse. It was the birth place of the Grunge scene producing bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. To explore the city’s musical roots, visit the Frank Gehry designed Experience Music Project, located next to the Space Needle. This center, which is combined with the Science Fiction Museum and the Hall of Fame has several interactive exhibitions for you to test you musical prowess.

If you have time, try and get outside of the city limits for a day or two as the surrounding landscape is awesome. Some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the USA can be found at the Olympic Mountains and the Cascade Mountains and the Olympic National Park is a beautiful place for summer walks and bike rides.

A Sound Workplace Environment

A Sound Workplace Environment

The workplace is a venue for productivity and output, and it is just fitting for everyone to have the best possible working experience. This means that all workers, employees, managers, and everyone else are moving in a professional, well-meaning environment. Productivity is only truly possible when the place is conducive enough to allow it to flourish.

Unfortunately, a number of work place environments do not provide avenues for maximum productivity. In fact, employees are hindered from becoming creative and critical, tasked mainly to repetitively do this and that and not ask questions. The work setting itself is not at all healthy, resulting to a lot of resignations.

Providing a sound working environment is not really difficult. It all starts from the idea that human interactions and needs are the most important of all.

When these are neglected, everything else falls apart. When a boss thinks of the welfare of his or her subordinates more than anything, for sure, they will truly stick with their boss. Simply keeping in mind that everyone is striving to work their hardest is important.

This is not to undermine the vitality of the work output—even the nicest boss needs to raise his or her voice once in a while. If he or she was not able to properly use the software for manufacturing as directed, give constructive criticism and feedback, avoiding unnecessary personal statements that can negatively affect the employee.

Along with treating each and every person in the workplace right, it is also important to provide sufficient instruments, tools, equipment, software etc.

If you expect good results, provide what is needed. Don’t go around complaining about mediocre output, if it is the only thing that can be produced from mediocre equipment and instruments. Upgrade the software for manufacturing, the equipment, and everything else needed.

Of course, it all still depends on the worker and how he or she will maximize what is provided. This can range from an efficient the software for manufacturing to a new set of computers; from an understanding boss to a substantial number of trainings. It all boils down to how each and everyone in the workplace brings out the best in every circumstance and in every resource provided.
